Interim stay on amendment to Co-op Act

As per the amendment, the co-operative societies have to audit their account with any one of the 10 auditors mentioned by the govt

The High Court Circuit Bench (HCCB), Dharwad, has given an interim stay on amendments to the Karnataka State Co-Operative Act-1977.

Sirsi-based Vijaylakshmi Composite Co-Operative Society Limited had filed a writ petition at the HCCB challenging the decision of the state which had stated that the co-operative societies have to audit their accounts with one of the auditor mentioned by the government. A single-bench headed by Justice H G Ramesh who heard the case, has given an interim stay on the government order.

As per the amendment, the co-operative societies have to audit their account with any one of the 10 auditors mentioned by the government.
 

Challenging this, more than 15 co-operative societies had filed writ petition at the HCCB.
