Intl air traffic grew 2.5 times in 4 yrs

International traffic at the Bangalore Aiport has grown over 2.5 times between 2000 and 2004, S Chandrasekhar, president of the Greater Mysore Chamber of Industry (GMCI), told a round table on Direct International Flights, in Bangalore on Friday.
 
"A recent report indicates that between April-July 2004, international aircraft movement rose by 17.4 per cent in the country as with Bangalore accounting for 48 per cent increase. In the year 2000-01, the traffic at Bangalore airport (arrival and departures) was 1,71,697. This has increased to 4,77,634 in 2003-04," Chandrasekhar said.
 
Chandrasekhar added, "With more foreign companies looking at Bangalore for setting up operations, the contours of spatial coverage of these companies have changed."
