The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) has set up an intellectual property (IP) facilitation centre at Delhi to spread awareness about IP and take measures for protecting the ideas and business strategies among the micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
As the work progresses, the centre would be linked to other local Ficci centres at Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore, said a press release.
The facilitation centre comprises technical and legal experts. This apart, it is well equipped to offer services in all areas of intellectual property rights (IPR) such as patents, trademarks, designs, copy rights including patent drafting and prosecution. “In India 80 per cent of the patent applications are filed by foreign firms, and the small industries fail to protect their IP assets due to lack of funds and lack of awareness on IP and the need for protecting IP,” the press release added.
