IT.Com aims at high end

The focus of this year's week-long Bangalore IT.Com, beginning from Monday, will be to attract high-end work to Bangalore, besides other initiatives.
 
"Every year, the event re-invents itself to align with the needs of the sector. This year also has many new elements that make it not only the most comprehensive window to the ICT world but also a significant platform that sets the agenda for the sector," M K Shankaralinge Gowda, secretary for IT and Biotechnology, science and technology, government of Karnataka, said.
 
"In the past we promoted IT. This time, we are keen on promoting quality in IT where we will look at attracting high-end work," Gowda added.
 
One of the firsts during this year's event is that leading industry bodies are coming together to hold specific business sessions. These inlcude organisations like the Nasscom, CII, TiE, Indian Semiconductor Association and the IDC.
 
"No other event can boast of the coming together of such names. These industry bodies have decided to conduct parallel sessions on specific issues about the industry," B V Naidu, director, Software Technology Parks of India, added.
 
TCS, which conducts the Rural IT Quiz every year before Bangalore IT.com, is excited about the participation this year "" 61,300 students. The finals will take place at the event.
 
The Karnataka government has taken a decision to decentralise the Student Internet World event during this year. Earlier, students from rural schools around Bangalore were brought to the event to help them experience the world of the internet.
 
This year, the Student Internet World will go the doorstep of rural schools. The event will take place simultaneously across all 27 districts in the state for the benefit of the students.
