IT, Excise depts waking up to stamp scam ramifications

 Waking up to the implications of the multi-state, multiple-crore fake stamps and stamp paper scam, CBDT and CBEC have begun a process of internally assessing the impact on their respective agencies.

 A well-placed source, confirming the development, said that very senior officials of the CBDT met in Mumbai early this week to deliberate on the issue, among other things.
