J&K annual plan for Srinagar at over Rs 32 cr

The plan, approved at a meeting of the District Development Board with the Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig in the chair, earmarked Rs 540 lakh for communication, Rs 204.30 lakh for agriculture, Rs 77.08 lakh for rural development and Rs 23.90 lakh for industry during 2008-09, official sources said.     

A sum of Rs 40 lakh has been allocated to power and Rs 23.60 crore to social and general services, the sources said. The Deputy Chief Minister also announced an additionality of Rs 3.72 crore, they said.     

 

Baig, addressing the meeting, said the development should not take a backseat as it was the most essential function of the government and stressed on maintenance of close coordination between various services in order to expedite the developmental processes.     
Besides Congress legislators Khem Lata Wukhloo and Ali Mohammad Sofi, national conference legislators - Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul, Mohammad Syed Akhoon, Mohammad Yaseen Shah - the meeting was attended by independent members Shahjehan Dar, Sofi Ghulam Mohammad and Raman Mattoo.
