For the first time in 27 years, a government will change on electoral verdict in Jammu and Kashmir. The National Conference, which has never faced an electoral defeat in its 63 years of political existence, was dislodged from power in the Assembly.
In a largely anti-National Conference verdict, a three year old regional party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), gained at the expense of NC in the valley, while the Congress made susbstantial inroads into the seats of both NC and the BJP.
