BS Reporter New Delhi
Completed in two and half years, the Jaipur Metro on Wednesday started trial runs between Mansarover and Shyam Nagar line, 9.25-km long. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot flagged off the run.

Under an agreement signed in 2010, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had constructed the corridor for the first phase. DMRC will be involved in operation and maintenance for the first year. The ‘Pink Corridor’ is expected to be opened soon.

The first trial run would cover the stretch of four kilometers comprising four metro stations. The trials will gradually cover the rest of the stretch.

The 9.25 kilometer stretch is part of the 11. 6 kilometer long Mansarovar – Badi Chaupar corridor that will be built in phase one. The metro corridor will be built on standard gauge.

This is DMRC’s first venture for Metro construction outside Delhi metro. The Phase-1East-West Corridor of the Metro in Phase I is expected to costs Rs 3,200 crore.
