Union minister for rural development Jairam Ramesh will review the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in seven districts of south Orissa including Ganjam on Saturday.

These districts include Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangapur and Malkanagiri. Official sources said the minister has also proposed to take up field visits in Ganjam and Kandhamal, the two districts which have been awarded by the ministry for successful implementation of the labour-intensive programme.

The minister's visit comes at a time when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating into the alleged irregularities in the implementation of the MGNREGA in six districts including Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput and Nabarangapur. The central investigative agency was also conducting probe into the irregularities of the scheme in two other districts- Bolangir and Nuapada.
