Jamnagar, a highly industrialised city in Gujarat which already hosts a number of industrial units such as the refineries of Reliance Industries (RIL) and Essar Oil (EOL) besides others, is now set to get new industrial projects worth Rs 4,563 crore during the next two years, said Anil Patel, the Gujarat minister of state for industries, here on Tuesday. |
These projects are in addition to the proposed polypropylene plant expansion programme of the Reliance. |
Addressing a press conference, he said, Enercon India is planning a wind mill project at a cost of Rs 1,550 crore in the Kalyanpur, Bhatia, Dwarka, Bhanvad and Jamjodhpur talukas of the district and Gujarat NRE Coke is also planning projects at a cost of Rs 50 crore. |
Jamnagar has a rich bauxite wealth and Ashapura Minerals and Chemicals is now planning an aluminium plant at an initial investment of Rs 2,500 crore, he said. |
Patel further said Reliance is adding an ethanol dope petrol plant at a cost of Rs 500 crore and has lined up investments worth Rs 3.85 crore for a herbal extraction project. |
The district will also be getting an investment of Rs 10 crore towards a groundnut processing project, he said. |
The state government has identified brass part industries as a core industry for Jamnagar and a cluster development programme will be initiated to resolve brass industry's problems and boost its growth by providing training and other facilities, he said. |
Again, Dwarka will be promoted under the tourism development plan of the central government. |
