Japan's government has yet to confirm that North Korea conducted a nuclear test, a news report said today.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's special adviser on national security issues, Yuriko Koike, said Japan hasn't been able to confirm the test so far, Kyodo News agency reported.

Koike made the remarks at the prime minister's residence where ministers and officials were hastily called as the government set up a task force to discuss the situation, according to Kyodo.
