Jaswant To Open Cii Annual Meet

Finance Minister Jaswant Singh will inaugurate the annual meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry on April 28.

Earlier, the CII had told Business Standard the session would be inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani.

Last year, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee did not attend the ceremony, and the meeting was finally inaugurated by the leader of the Opposition, Sonia Gandhi. Vajpayee had, however, attended the closing ceremony.

C K Prahalad, Harvey C Freehauf Professor of Corporate Strategy, Michigan Business School, will deliver the keynote address. About 800 delegates are likely to participate in the event.

This year, the meeting will focus on the services sector. There will also be a session on young Indians from both the corporate and political worlds whose ideas have made an impact in their respective arenas. There will be a session on the Asianisation of the global film industry.
