The national executive of the JD(U) met here today to discuss reasons for the poor show of NDA in the Lok Sabha polls though it performed well in Bihar.

The meeting was attended by JD(U) president and NDA acting-convener Sharad Yadav, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and all senior leaders of the party, including newly-elected party MPs.

Party leaders, on condition of anonymity, said the meeting will deliberate upon the reasons for dismal performance of BJP-led NDA at the national level as JD(U) is a crucial partner of the alliance.

They, however, dismissed suggestions that the party could contemplate parting ways with BJP and move close towards any secular alliance, saying: "We have a solid alliance with BJP in Bihar and it is functioning well there."

The meeting will also finalise the economic, political and social agenda of the party for the coming year.
