The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has let it be known that human resources development minister Murli Manohar Joshis position on contentious issues like Gujarat and disinvestment has its backing. This can lead to realignments in the BJP in the future.
The RSS has indicated its endorsement of Joshis position on a number of occasions.
Speaking at a meeting on Hindutva at Nagpur some weeks ago, Joshi had criticised the conduct of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, pointing out that the true Hindu looked to Hinduise minorities, instead of following a policy of competitive religious chauvinism.
Joshi had pointed out that various RSS leaders had supported the proposition that India should be a land of the Khrist-Hindu (Christians with a nationalist mindset).
The way to creating a Hindu society was not through communal riots, the way they had occurred in Gujarat, because that lowered Indias prestige in the world
