The BJP government in Karnataka on Monday said it was ready to accommodate Tata group’s Nano project, which has been caught in a political storm in West Bengal.
“If the Tatas bring the project to the state, we are ready to give them land,” chief minister B S Yeddyurappa told reporters here. But unlike his counterparts in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, Yeddyurappa was not vociferous in announcing a red-carpet welcome to the Tata Group.
“If they want to come, we will allow them in,” Yeddyurappa said while spiking suggestions to send an offer letter to the group.
Though the Tata group has so far not commented on an alternative location for the Nano project, officials in Karnataka contend that the state makes an ideal location. The Tata group has a construction equipment manufacturing plant near Dharwad.
