The Karnataka Tourism Policy 2003-2007 has provided major incentives and concessions to encourage private sector participation in all tourism-related activities in the state. Chief minister S M Krishna today unveiled the new tourism policy at Connect II, the second edition of private-public partnership.

According to Krishna, the setback on the tourist inflow to India after the September 11 attack in the US created an opportunity for the southern states. These states capitalised on this and Karnataka sought to act as a gateway between the East and the West.
