Kalam, who arrived in Bangalore last night, cut the cake made by children of Spastic Society of India in the presence of Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
Later, he flew in to a remote tribal village where he was greeted by the village head and children. They also celebrated his birthday and presented him with tribal musical instruments.
He will be attending an all religion meet later in the day before flying to Guwahati.
