Industrial town Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district on Wednesday observed Saheed Divas, marking the seventh anniversary of the violent clash between the tribals opposing land acquisition and the police forces that claimed 14 lives in 2006.
The commemoration of the event today saw supporters and opponents of Tata Steel project organising two separate functions to pay their tribute to the deceased. While the anti-displacement leaders held a rally from Champakoili to Birbhumi near Duburi, where the deceased were cremated, the project supporters held a meeting at Gobarghati.
