The Kandla Port has handled 10.07 million metric tonne (MMT) of cargo in the first quarter of the current fiscal.
This is 7.31 per cent more than the 9.38 mmt cargo witnessed in the corresponding period of 2002-03.
Deepak Jain, incharge, business development cell, Kadla Port, said that between April and June 2003, 30.84 lakh tonne of dry cargo traffic was handled as against 30.43 lakh tonne in the corresponding period of last year.

The port handled 16.54 lakh tonne (15.11 lakh tonne) liquid cargo in the first quarter, a 9.46 per cent growth.
According to Jain, an upward trend was witnessed in container traffic also with an output of 40,000 TEUs in the first quarter.
The port handled 35,000 TEUs in the corresponding period of last fiscal, a growth of 25 per cent.
It handled 52.95 lakh tonne of crude oil compared with 48.11 lakh tonne in the first quarter of last year.
