"I am shocked to learn about the price hike. The common people are already in distress. The government should further subsidise petroleum products," he demanded at a press conference here.
However, Yeddyurappa ruled out slashing sales tax and entry tax on petroleum products in the state to cushion the impact of the hike, saying the state had not resorted to any fresh imposts in the last budget.
Yeddyurapa, who held the finance portfolio in the previous JDS-BJP Government, had presented the budget last year.
