Having wrapped up its first batch of bachelor in dental surgery (BDS), Ahmedabad-based Karnavati School of Dentistry (KSD) is now planning to introduce new programmes at its campus. The institute has tied up with Boston Implant Institute for offering a post-graduate programme in implantology.

"KSD will be the first institute with whom Boston Implant Institute ties up for implantology. The infrastructure will be ours and the expertise will be theirs. Gradually, Boston Implant Institute will train our faculty members as well to take up the course. Initially, implantology will be taught to BDS students as an elective and then later introduced as a post programme," said Deepak Sishoo, vice prinicipal of Karnavati School of Dentistry.

Spread across an area of 205,000 sq ft, the institute has been set up by the Karnavati Educational and Medical Trust, a charitable body. Currently, KSD has an intake of around 100 students per annum. The institute is also planning to tie-up the Goldman School of Dental Medicine to offer post graduate program in dental surgery from next academic year.

Apart from KSD, the Karnavati Educational and Medical Trust is also planning a business school in the country. United Group, an arm of the charitable body is launching business schools under the name of United World School of Business in cities like Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Kolkata. To be set up at an overall investment of Rs 50 crore, each of the institute will have an intake of 120 students.

While initially the business school will be offering post graduate programmes in business management, it will also introduce one year post graduate programme for executives, on the lines of PGPX offered by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), said Sishoo.
