Karunanidhi mishandled reservation case: Jaya

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa charged the UPA government at the Centre and the DMK government in Tamil Nadu with betraying the backward classes and putting into question the 69 per cent reservation system introduced by her in 1994. "This is a great betrayal by the DMK government as it mishandled the case," she said.
 
The Communist Party of India criticised the SC ruling saying that only legislature represents the will of the people and the apex court cannot be the final arbiter.
 
CPI national secretary D Raja said that in case of 69 per cent reservation in Tamil Nadu, its inclusion in the Ninth Schedule was to safeguard the cause of social justice.
