TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) today claimed that the TDP would be relegated to a single digit position in the Assembly elections in the Telangana region.

Addressing a press conference, he accused chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of spreading misinformation against the Congress and TRS over internal problems that the two parties faced on account of ticket allotments, while trying to cover up bigger problems in the TDP.

"Each and every party is facing such kind of problems in the state. As for TDP, it has been facing dissident activity in over 140 Assembly constituencies beside facing party rebels in over 40 segments. Six sitting MLAs have resigned from TDP," KCR said, while claiming that the TRS-Congress combine was receiving overwhelming support in over 87 Assembly segments in the Telangana region.

KCR also alleged that Naidu was behind the statements being made by some of the dissidents in TRS and the Congress. He accused Naidu of encouraging covert dissidence in opposition parties.

Waging a broadside against the TDP president, KCR demanded a clarification from the former as to why his family has Rs 21 crore worth of assets.

"Countering corruption allegations, he repeatedly told people that he needs only two idlis and a couple of chapatis a day. Then why is he having so much money. Why don't you spend that money on the state's development," he challenged.

Stating that the dissidence in TRS is a temporary aberration, KCR said that the leaders in TRS who were unhappy over seat-sharing and allotment of tickets along with several rebels would be convinced to fall in line in a couple of days.

"TDP is not sure of its chances. That is why its leadership tried to enroll one crore bogus voters in the state. And this campaign against us will not yield any benefit as the people of Telangana have already made up their minds," he said.
