Kerala seeks Nabard support in food security programme

On the occasion of its 27th Foundation Day, Kerala chief minister VS Achuthanandan stressed on the Rs 450-crore aid for rural drinking water projects, distribution of interest subvention and improving ground level credit flow.

Pointing out the importance of cooperatives in credit dispensation in the rural areas, the chief minister urged Nabard not to stop refinance on technical grounds.

 

Bhawar Puri, chief general manager, Nabard, Kerala, said "over the last five years the ground level flow of credit to agriculture has grown from Rs 4,549 crore to Rs 15,444.65 crore as a result of the combined efforts of Nabard, banks and the state government."
