Kerala Shipping And Inland Eyes Diversification

The Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC), a state-government undertaking engaged in passenger and cargo transport through the inland waters of Kerala, has decided to diversify into tourism, dredging, international shipping and management consultancy services.

Minister of state for transport K B Ganesh Kumar said as part of the foray into tourism, KSINC would soon launch a tourist catamaran service between Thiruvanathapuram and Kochi.

Initially, the corporation would operate air-conditioned catamarans on lease. However, it may acquire its own catamarans once the venture becomes a success.

Revealing that the corporation also has plans to launch a passenger service between Kochi and various destinations in the Gulf region, a KSINC official said,
