The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today said Kerala should go aggressive in promoting itself and should focus on its strengths, its Deputy Chairman Southern Region, T T Ashok, said today.

"There are lot of negative perceptions about the state. This has to be broken", Ashok told reporters here.

Large projects are difficult in Kerala as there is scarcity of land. Fear of working with various labour organisations has been overcome to an extent, he said.

Kerala needs to focus on its stergnths- social indicies are very high and the state had a highly educated populace. These are things which should be leveraged. There is need to change perceptions and attitudes, he said.

The service sector needs to remain robust and a growth driver, physical infrastructure needs to be of global standards and skill development would need a massive step up, he said.

A banana cold chain was coming up at Thiruchirapalli. This was a central government project and by the end of this year, the CII expects to finalise a report on the project, he said.

CII was also keen on the Vizhinjam International Terminal project and Kannur Airport projects.
