Kerala, which has always been a big draw for tourists, is fast turning into a software development destination.

Global consulting majors like McKinsey and Ernst & Young have decided to set up business process and software development centres in the state.

Not only that, Indian infotech companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys are also looking to invest in Kerala.

Tata Consultancy Services, which had its global training centre in the state, was in the process of expanding the facility and Infosys wanted to start a software development centre, senior state government officials said.

Another global major, Allianz Cornhill, is setting up its first software development centre in India at Technopark Trivandrum.

Allianz Cornhill has set up its Indian subsidiary, Allianz Cornhill Information Services, for this.

The McKinsey subsidiary, Visual Graphics Computing Services India, which develops customised graphics software, animation and multi-media products for the parent company, is also setting up operations at the technopark.

Visual Graphics Computing Services had leased about 11,000 square feet in the technopark and would start operations soon, Rajiv Vasudevan, chief executive officer, Technopark Trivandrum, said.
