Kolkata gets India's first computerised underground car park

The country's first underground computerised car park, 'Parkomat' built at a cost of Rs 34 crore was inaugurated here today by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
 
The car park, which can accommodate 280 cars, was constructed in joint collaboration between Simplex Project Ltd and the Kolkata Muncipal Corporation.
 
Speaking at the inauguration, Bhattacharjee said that a heritage committee had been formed which would work towards preservation of heritage buildings.
 
He also said that the river-front from the metropolis to Bandel in Hooghly district would be beautified.
