M Janakiramaiah, chairman, said the union was targeting a business of Rs 184 crore in 2008-09. While milk accounted for most of business, ghee fetched Rs 50 crore, butter Rs 20 crore and other milk products Rs 15 crore. The milk procurement was on an average 1,52,148 kg per day in 2007-08, 34 kg less compared with 2006-07. The procurement decreased in the year because of foot and mouth disease which afflicted the animals. Also the Bhimadole (WG) factory was taken away from the union, affecting procurement. The union has set a target of 1,58,000 kg per day in 2008-09. He said milk sales per day on an average stood at 1,57,764.5 litres as against 1,47,608 litres in 2006-07. The sales are expected to touch 1,60,000 litres per day in the current financial. |
The union would soon bring out two new products "" laddu made with milk and sugar, and a kalakand-like product.
