Kudumbashree, the Kerala government's initiative aimed at poverty eradication through empowerment of women, has bagged the Innovation for India Award instituted by the Innovation for India-Marico Foundation. |
Kudumbashree won the award along with 10 other organisations in the country. The award has been instituted to acknowledge and encourage innovation in India, both in business and social arena. |
The award for Kudumbashree came in the 'Social Innovation by Non-Business Organisations' category, along with MV Foundation and Trichy Police. Meanwhile, ITC IBD, Kegg Farms and AP Online were honoured in the category of Social Innovation by Business Organizations'. |
Amongst those awarded in the Business Innovations category were Tata Motors Ltd, Divya Bhaskar and Bharat Biotech International Ltd. for Product/ Process Innovation and Wipro Global Command Centre and Carnes Software International Ltd. for Business Model Innovation. |
Kudumbashree was honoured for its various contributions, which include setting up of numerous innovative group and individual micro enterprises, thus providing employment to 2,42,489 families. Kudmbashree was presented with the award at a ceremony held in Mumbai recently. |
