The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDC) disbursed Rs 179.4 crore for the fiscal ended March 31, 2003.
During the previous fiscal, KUIDC disbursed about Rs 35 crore for the centrally sponsored Bangalore Megacity project while Rs 47.6 crore and Rs 96.8 crore were released for the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development projects and Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environment Management projects, respectively.
Ever since the Megacity Project was launched in 1995 at an estimated cost of Rs 762.16 crore, KUIDFC has sanctioned Rs 331.32 crore and disbursed Rs 168.08 crore. As on 4 April 2003, an additional Rs 110.32 crore were sanctioned for this project.

Work on ADB assisted KUIDF project began in 1996 at an estimated to cost Rs 492.92 crore. It includes infrastructure development in Mysore, Tumkur, Ramanagaram, Channapatna, Maddur and Mandya.
The KUDCEM project, which is also being assisted by the ADB, is making a rapid progress ever since its launch in 2000-01. This project is estimated to cost Rs 930 crore and covers the towns of Ankola, Bhatkal, Dandeli, Kundapura, Mangalore, Puttur, Sirsi, Udupi and Ullal. KUIDFC is also the nodal agency for both these ADB assisted projects.
According to Atul Kumar Tiwari, the executive director of KUIDFC, discussions are on between the government of Karnataka and the World Bank on the concept of the Karnataka Urban Water and Sanitation Sector Improvement Project.
The project will complement and be implemented in close co-ordination with the Karnataka Urban Reform Project, which is also under preparation, to be funded by the World Bank.
