The 135-km Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,830 crore is expected to be operational by 2011.

According to DS Construction officials, the construction of the 53-km stretch of the expressway from Manesar to Palwal would be completed by March 2011. It would connect National Highway No. 8 and National Highway No. 2. The stretch between Kundli and Manesar is expected to be completed by August 2011.

Officals maintained big loops would be constructed on the expressway where it cuts the Delhi-Amritsar National Highway No. 1, Delhi-Fazilka National Highway No. 10 and Delhi-Jaipur National Highway No. 8. These loops would facilitate people to reach the expressway from the state highways and vice-versa.

In the area between Manesar and Palwal, 15 flyovers and 75 small bridges would be constructed. Similarly, between Kundli and Manesar, 30 flyovers and about 100 small constructions would be carried out. These include four Railway Over Bridges (ROBs).

Officials claimed all clearances including that for the construction of ROBs have been obtained and now there would be no laxity in the construction of the expressway.

The process of land acquisition has also been completed with no hinderances.

Initially, the expressway would be a four-lane road, but there would be a provision to widen it to a six-lane road.
