Supporting small and medium-scale sector can help the government solve the problem of unemployment and also create a better social security network for the unorganised sector. This was stated by state A M Chakroborty at an interactive session on 'Changing Paradigms of Industrial Relations in Asian Countries: Focus China and Comparison with Indian Laws and Practices', organised by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce. He said laws that hurt the small scale sector and employment creation was not advisable as this sector provides most employment in the country. "It is an established fact that the SSI sector should be supported better if the country has to solve the problem of unemployment, which would also in turn provide a boost of the economic growth," he said. He also said in most developed countries the unorganised sector provided for bulk of the gross national product of that country. It was also true for India. |
