The National Highway (NH) projects in the state are set to gather steam with the government deciding to expedite the process of land acquisition for these projects.
The state Chief Secretary B K Patnaik has asked the authorities of the revenue department to expedite the land acquisition process and hand over the land to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Patnaik reviewed the progress of four-laning of Bhubaneswar-Puri (NH-203), Sambalpur-Bargarh-Luharacheti (NH-6), Rimuli-Rajamunda section of NH-215, Panikoili-Keonjhar-Remuli Road (NH-215) and Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher (NH-200).
On the Bhubaneswar-Puri NH, Patnaik called for the formation of three teams for acquisition of land necessary for the bypass portions and completion of the process within 15 days.
It has been decided to appoint more number of revenue inspectors on contractual basis for this purpose. Besides, one more land acquisition officer will be posted by the revenue department within 15 days.
NHAI will start work on non-forest land and submit the proposal for diversion of forest land. The proposal for felling of trees along the Bhubaneswar-Puri NH-203 was also discussed at the meeting. The proposed four-laning of NH-203 will pass through 11 villages in Khurda district and 65 village areas in Puri district.
On the other hand, NH-6 will pass through nine village areas in Sambalpur district and 45 village areas in Bargarh district.
