Lapang may quit before floor test today

With numbers apparently not in its favour, the Congress-led Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA) government faces an uphill task of proving its majority in the Assembly tomorrow amid indications that Chief Minister DD Lapang may throw in the towel before the vote.
 
In a bid to avoid a certain defeat, the ruling side yesterday got the speaker's election postponed and kept the ammunition reserved for tomorrow's trial of strength.
