The much awaited Calcutta Leather Complex (CLC) may soon be operational with number of tanneries preparing to start commercial production from early March, raising hope that the eastern region would be able to meet the export target of Rs 1400 crore achieved in the last fiscal.
Senior government officials said nearly 200 tanneries have started construction work at Bantala where the complex is coming up, a fact tanners also corroborated.
