If it was the opposition NDA which raised the issue of price rise by forming a human chain around parliament yesterday, today the Left parties too were determined not to be left behind.
A delegation of Left leaders including the party's parliamentary party spokesperson Sitaram Yechury met with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today to press their four basic demands to curb price rise.
The four demands include, a cut in customs and other duties with regard to petroleum and its products, a ban on futures trading of all 25 essential commodities listed under the Essential Commodities Act, the strengthening of the Public Distribution System and restoration of allocation cuts made for different states under PDS.
