The Left parties plan to launch an offensive against Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav following the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) decision to initiate prosecution against him in the multi-crore animal husbandry scam.

The move to launch an agitation against Yadav has been taken with a view not to let the BJP-Samata party combine take the lead in the anti-Yadav offensive.

We cannot keep quiet if Laloo Prasad Yadav does not step down. We have to see that our demand for his ouster is fulfilled. We cannot let the BJP go all-out against Yadav, one senior Left leader said.

State leaders of the four Left parties met last night to chalk out a concrete course of action. They said agitation will be launched against Yadav if refuses to step down. The Left parties, however, do not intend to raise the demand for Yadavs resignation in Parliament today. They say that since it is a concern of the state government, it should not be raised in Parliament.
