The central government has decided to bring in a legislation in the Parliament next month to make it mandatory for private broadcasters to share feed with Doordarshan for major sporting events played in the country, Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi said today.

"Appropiate legislation will be brought so that millions of people who depend on Doordarshan do not miss cricket matches," Dasmunsi said.

A majority of cricket lovers were deprived of live telecast of the India-Windies one-day international yesterday due to Nimbus', which is televising the cricket series, refusal to share feed with the national broadcaster.
