Opposition members today forced adjournment of the Lok Sabha till noon minutes after it met for the day raising a host of issues, including the Mumbai motormen strike and 2G spectrum allocation.
Immediately after completion of obituary reference, Shiv Sena members trooped into the well flashing placards 'Mumbai comes to a grinding halt' and sought to raise the issue of railway motormen strike in the financial hub of the country.
They were joined by some BJP members.
At the same time, AIADMK members also stormed the well waving copies of a newspaper carrying reports on the alleged scam in allocation of spectrum. They demanded resignation of Communications Minister A Raja.
JD(U), SP and RJD members were also seen on their feet demanding caste-based census, while Left members raised the issue of the alleged links of a union minister with a Bangladeshi arms dealer.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal's assurances that the government will come with a statement on the motormen strike in suburban Mumbai before the House adjourned for the day failed to pacify the agitated members.
As the uproar continued, some members from the Treasury benches wanted that they should be allowed to ask the questions listed against their names and displayed the agenda papers.
With members unrelenting, the Speaker asked Home Minister P Chidambaram, who was replying to a question, to take his seat as nothing could be heard amid the din and adjourned the proceedings till noon.
