The Lok Sabha secretariat today sent a notice to Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray over his remarks against MPs of Bihar. According to sources, the Lok Sabha secretariat has asked Thackeray to explain his position and clarify as to why his remarks should not be regarded as a case of privilege against the Parliamentarians. Thackeray had written an article in his party mouthpiece Saamna where he made strong comments against the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradash residing in Mumbai. In his attack on the North Indians, Thackeray didn't even spare MPs and made some stinging comments on the MPs elected from Bihar. Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Debendra Prasad Yadav had moved a privilege motion against Thackeray and was supported by Prabhunath Singh of JD(U). While Singh is a member of the NDA along with the Shiv Sena MPs, he chose to protest against the remarks of Thackeray. According to sources, Thackeray has been given a week's time to reply to the notice. His reply will come to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. The Speaker, after going through the reply, will decide whether the matter is fit for privilege process. |
