Low carbon fair in Shillong to commemorate CWG

To commemorate the upcoming Commonwealth Games, a week-long 'low carbon fair' is being held here.

Being organised by CMS Vatavaran, an environment forum, in collaboration with the CWG's organising committee, a green film festival will be inaugurated by Meghalaya Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary on Wednesday, an official release said here.

Beginning today, several activities promoting low carbon practises have been lined up in the city.

Seminars, workshops, open forum and panel discussions on several contemporary issues related to environment, climate change, sustainable technology and eco-tourism will be held till Friday.

The activities also include an energy conservation marathon, painting competition, eco tour and an exhibition on climate change.

 

During the film festival, more than 30 award winning films on environment and wildlife will be screened over a period of three days.

The inaugural film of the festival is 'The Wild Meat Trail' by Rita Banerji and Shilpi Sharma.

Individuals making significant contribution in the field of environmental conservation will be felicitated during the inaugural ceremony.
