LPG connections to BPL families

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday requested the Union government to advise oil marketing companies to allot 800,000 liquid petroleum gas (LPG) connections to Andhra Pradesh annually for distribution to below poverty line (BPL) families under Deepam scheme in the next three years. In a letter to Union minister for petroleum and natural gas, S Jaipal Reddy, the chief minister said that the state government proposes to cover maximum number of BPL families with LPG connections by paying the deposit for cylinder and regulator with a view to protect the women from health hazards.
