The winter session of Lok Sabha began on a stormy note today with members of Samajwadi Party and RLD creating uproar over the demand for hike in sugarcane prices leading to adjournment of the House till 12 noon.

As soon as the obituary references were over, SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and RLD President Ajit Singh led their party members into the well of the House on the issue.

"Stop the loot of sugarcane growers," chanted the agitated members of the two parties as BJP Chief Rajnath Singh and Deputy Leader Sushma Swaraj tried to raise the issue from their seats in the front bench.

Speaker Meira Kumar tried to pacify the angry members who were in no mood to listen, forcing her to adjourn the House till 12 noon.

BJP has already announced plans to move an Adjournment Motion in the House over the sugarcane issue.
