A day after polling was completed in all the 29 Parliamentary constituencies of Madhya Pradesh, both the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress in the State exuded confidence about the results.

Madhya Pradesh BJP spokesman, Uma Shanker Gupta told PTI that his party would perform exceedingly well in the elections and express confidence that the party would win in more than 25 constituencies.

"The BJP was not worried about the low turnout of voters as this was generally expected during the summer season," he said.         Even during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the percentage of voting was only 48 and hence low polling this time should not cause any alarm, Gupta said.

In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP in Madhya Pradesh had won 25 seats while only four had gone to the Congress.

State Congress Chief spokesman, Manak Agrawal said that his party would definitely improve upon its tally of 2004.He said there was a strong possibility that the Congress may win between 10 to 12 seats from the state.
