Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today said that results of Lok Sabha elections were not upto her party's expectations and the reasons for the defeat will be analysed in detail by its leaders later in the day.
"The results are not along expected lines and the reasons for the party's defeat will be analysed in detail by the senior party leaders to arrive at any specific conclusion," Swaraj told reporters at her residence here.
"The party believes in sharing collective responsibility of victory and defeat and in the present case also the same theory would be applied," she said.
"Not only us, but even UPA and Congress never expected such a result in their favour," she said.
When asked whether BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani will continue as the Leader of Opposition, she said that she would like him to play that role.
To a question, she denied that people have rejected Advani as the prime ministerial candidate, but said that the cause of the defeat would be discussed in detail by the party leaders and then only anything can be said about it.
When asked whether time has come for the second rung leaders to lead the party, she again said that anything can be said only after the party leaders analyse the results in detail.
"Whenever that happens the people will definitely come to know about it," Swaraj said.
