This was stated by BK Modi, chairman of M Corp Global here while launching the SpiceRing, a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) based service here.
The company claims to have 750,000 customers in Punjab and plans to set up 1,000 SpiceRing centres in a year. Through SpiceRing service, long-distance calls would be routed through Internet instead of telephone line, slashing the cost to one third, Modi said.
The company plans to offer the facility through SpiceRing centres like PCOs, where customers can walk in and make international calls. Punjab had a large number of people staying abroad and this facility would help their relatives make calls from India at an economical tariff, Modi said.

Terming the reports baseless that he was planning to hive off Spice, Modi said the company would make additional investment and had lined up funds for that.
He admitted that Spice owed Rs 280 crore to Motorola and other equipment suppliers, but it had also claimed about Rs 350 crore refund from the government on account of excess fee paid by the early players.
He said money collected under the unified licence regime would be distributed to the early and small players.
