Maha govt sets up committee to frame Child Welfare Policy

Maharashtra's first Child Welfare Policy was introduced in 1974 and was amended in 2002

Maharashtra government has set up a 64-member committee, headed by Women and Child Welfare Minister Varsha Gaikwad, to finalise its Child Welfare Policy 2013. The draft policy has been prepared by Child Rights Protection Commission and Pune-based state run training institute Yashada.

Maharashtra's first Child Welfare Policy was introduced in 1974 and was amended in 2002. The committee has been entrusted the task of time bound planning of implementing the policy.

The draft has been prepared by UNICEF. Secretary, Child Rights Protection Commission, has been appointed the nodal agency for the purpose. The action plan will be prepared by Yashada.
