Maha govt to take up credit societies' issue

"The Government will raise with the Centre the issue of loan waiver from the credit societies and suggestions from the Opposition members would also be taken into consideration," Revenue Minister Narayan Rane informed the Legislative Council.     

To a question on loan waiver from credit societies, Minister of State for Coopratives Jaiprakash Dandegaokar said about 11 lakh farmers in the state have not benefited from the Rs 71,000-crore loan waiver announced in February.     

 

Loans taken by farmers from national, rural, district banks and some credit societies between February 21, 2007 and February 29, 2008 has been waived, he said.
