The project will be developed on the PPP model wherein a major investment will be done by the private sector while the state government will also contribute its share to make the project viable one.
Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan told Business Standard “An announcement in this regard will be done in next 10-15 days. The proposed MBIC will give a further leg up to investments in this region,” he added.
The government is expecting investments in the field of power, gas pipeline infrastructure, gas based projects, information technology, agri business along the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
MIDC which is a state undertaking would be the nodal agency for the project.
Chavan said under the DMIC two national industrial manufacturing zones will be developed near Aurangabad in the underdeveloped Marathwada region and Dighi in the coastal Raigad district.
This apart, the government is also in the midst of development of Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nagpur corridor, Mumbai-Konkan corridor and Pune-Supa-Kolhapur corridor for the dispersal of investments.
